Extra Costs Incurred When Purchasing Property

Ensure that you understand which of the following fees and costs are applicable when buying a property.

  • Transfer Duty. Not applicable when buying into a brand new development.

  • The conveyancer's fees. The transferring attorney's fee for lodging the transfer in the deeds office.

  • Bond registration charges.

  • Valuation fees. These are payable as part of the bond application process. The bank needs to value your purchase in order to ascertain whether or not the house is indeed worth enough to act as security for the bond.

  • VAT. In the case of a new development transfer fees are not applicable, and VAT is included in the purchase price.
